The service is made up of five databases, each on a different subject but all fully linked to one another.
At the heart of it are the two core databases:
- LEGISLATION;
- CASE LAW.
Legislation database
The Legislation database provides legal and systematic treatment of the acts published in series I and II of the Diário da República (the Portuguese official gazette).
It also covers the acts published in:
- Official Journal of the European Communities (JOCE);
- Official Journal of the European Union (JOUE);
- Official Journal of the Autonomous Region of the Azores (JORAA);
- Official Journal of the Autonomous Region of Madeira (JORAM); and
- Boletim do Trabalho e do Emprego (BTE), the labour and employment bulletin.
It also includes all regulations of the Portuguese Securities Market Commission (CMVM) and notices of Banco de Portugal.
Legislation can be searched globally (free text) or by field, and browsed through indexes (the database thesaurus). Acts are added and updated every day by a team of lawyers who make up the DATAJURIS Research Centre, which follows the SC-INTE-085 quality standard.
The SERVICE provided by DATAJURIS was the first of its kind to be CERTIFIED WORLDWIDE and, to our knowledge, the only one at that date (September 2011).
Field searches can combine any number of options, with no limit.
The full text of published acts is also available: click "Text" at the end of each record for a range of viewing options, including consolidated versions.
Case law database
The Case Law database provides legal and systematic treatment of the decisions of all relevant courts in the Portuguese judicial system. Almost all decisions include the full text.
We also cover the information published in the Colectânea de Jurisprudência (until early 2008) and in the Boletim do Ministério da Justiça while it was published.
It also includes, for example, administrative and tax case law from the Supreme Administrative Court and the administrative and tax courts.
In the Case Law database, decisions can be searched in three ways:
- Global search;
- Field search; and
- Index browsing (the database thesaurus).
Field searches can use many options, which can be freely combined with no limit.
